This size of bag is ideal for extended trips, including camping trips. Children will struggle with this size of bag if they manage to fill it up.

Long outdoor excursions can easily be accommodated with this size of bag and you would struggle to justify anything bigger.

Look for 600D as an absolute minimum material thickness, but preferably 800D or higher if it will need to be hard-wearing. Additional pockets and compartments will help to stop smaller items getting lost and external webbing will allow additional items to be attached to the outside.

With this size of bag, you may even be able to fit a small tent inside rather than attaching it to the outside.
