No only is the material water resistant, Troy Lee tape all seams in the body of the shorts so water can't seep in. To further protect you from mud and damp you'll find an additional second layer on the saddle area that prevents that creeping wet feel you can get when you're on the saddle for hours.  Keeping the shorts locked in place is the zipper fly and button flap enclosure which is paired to an adjustable webbing belt with burly 7071-T6 Buckle (that can also be used as a bottle opener!). Of course Troy Lee also give you plenty of storage space for your trail bits and pieces, all safely sealed with waterproof zips.
