Far Out, Ios

Arriving as a pedestrian on the passenger ferry from Athens, there was an abundance of campsite touts to choose from. We selected the Purple Pig Campsite because the guy was extremely friendly and helpful, as at this point we had never camped in greece before. The Purple Pig was located right next door to Far Out campsite and was much smaller and intimate and cheaper. The atmosphere was homely and there was a barBQ everynight around the pool for minimal cost. The facilities were good but nothing special. The beach that was exclusive to the Purple Pig, Far Out and a handful of small bars and restaurants was beautiful. Perfect crescent shaped bay with white sand and turqoise sea. Far Out campsite was much bigger and in a lot of ways better. There was very much a party atmosphere the whole time. Drinking competitions between Aussies and Americans, bungy jump, party pool etc.. the facilities were a lot better at Far Out. I highly recommend hiring a 4x4 for a day and off roading round this samll but perfect island. My favorite greek island without a doubt. In a word Idylic!
