Camping As Cancelas, Santiago De Compostela

I stayed here for 3 night on the completion of my cycling pilgrimage from Yorkshire to Santiago de Compostela ( 2340.4 km from my home to the cathedral). The site is a class two site but was resonabley clean and was quiet. The restaurant and bar was open at normal times and produced adequate fare. it cost me 23.75 Euro for mr, my small tent and my bike. It is a site that has a high transit population with motor homes and caravan staying for perhaps 2 nights before moving on. It is also at the top of a very steep hill and the site itself was on a system of tiers ---when people were arriving and setting up there was always a strong smelll of burning clutches! It is only about 2 1/2 km to the old city and a pleasant walk down hill but catch a bus for coming back. Buses run on a circular route about every half hour. from 8 am. For a city centre site it is more than adequate but I would expect it to be very full in high season.
