5 Person Tents Buyers Guide
Five person tents (and larger) are tend to be designed with comfort rather than strength in mind. Larger groups may be wiser to split into twos or threes and invest in several smaller tents if they will be camping in harsh environments.
Design problems become greater with larger tents so consider the shape (ridge, tunnel, dome, geodesic) for the environment you will be using the tent in. Ridge tents of this size are unlikely to stand up to even a small gust. And remember, tunnel tents are much stronger perpendicular to the tunnel, than they are along the tunnel.
